Video Game Journal
June 13, 2014
I decided for the my game journal that I would play NBA Street Vol. 2 (2003) by EA Sports for Playstation2. I never owned this version of the game, but I was a fan of the original game. Also I don’t have any new game systems so I had to chose an older game. My Playstation2 also does not have a working memory card anymore so I am limited to playing only pick up games and not doing the NBA challenge. The first game I played I used the Sacramento Kings against the Toronto Raptors. I won easily because I played on a lower difficulty setting. It felt great.

I had time for two games today and so I again played as the Kings. I faced the Lakers and Bucks and won both games. The game against the Lakers was an even match up, but I still pulled off the victory. It was a nice confidence booster.

I was in Rocky Mountain National Park and Yellowstone National Park and was unable to play during this time.

Today I some games against a friend of mine. I enjoy playing against other people instead of just the computer because it adds another level of competition. I enjoy the smack talk that goes on. I find that playing against other people really enhance the experience of playing sports games.

I tried playing with another team besides the Kings today, and I must say I did terrible. I played with the Bulls which was a mistake because this game came out years before Derrick Rose and several years after Michael Jordan, so the team isn’t very good. It was pretty disappointing because I didn’t win as easily.

I tried a different difficulty setting today while playing with the Kings and was successful in winning two of the three games I played. I had a great sense of accomplishment winning against a harder computer opponent especially after last week’s frustrating time as the Bulls.

There must be some crazy setting on this game where it’s impossible to beat the computer on the hardest setting. I got clobbered by some of the worst teams in the game, but since it was the hardest setting, they were really good. It definitely did not make me feel good after playing. In fact, I think I’m going to go play real basketball to make me feel better.

I had some friends over and we all played a mini tournament. My friend Joe must have started playing this game in the womb because he beat everyone easily. I think I got the closest only losing by two, but I still lost every time to Joe. It’s okay though because I had a lot of fun playing this game with my friends, and we all got really into everything we were doing.
