About Dr. Leigh

Dr. Leigh is a film and media historian who teaches at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She teaches a variety of courses including, but not limited to: Understanding Visual Media, Global Cinema, The History of American Cinema, Women and the Silent Screen, History and Theory of Animation, Protocinematic Production, Critical Research Methods, Historical Research Methods and History of Media Arts & Culture. Dr. Leigh’s research ranges from representations of women in early Russian Cinema and female industrial practice in the silent era to issues  in contemporary masculinity and femininity in contemporary television shows like Archer and Doctor Who.
